New solutions for vehicles

In July 2019 a new research and development project has been started at Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg GmbH: "Smart, integrated radio systems for networked mobility and logistics (SISYVOS)". The alliance partners WIEGAND GmbH and the Technical University of Ilmenau will jointly research new solutions from 01.07.2019 to 30.06.2022. The main focus of the work at ATBB is the development of a system concept and a system architecture for antenna arrangement and distribution on the vehicle.

Requirements are increasing

Driven by progress in electronics and automotive engineering, the demands on antennas used in vehicle construction are constantly increasing. The available installation space for mounting antennas is decreasing, driven by requirements for aesthetics, reliability and functionality. Nevertheless, high demands are made on the communication connection of the vehicle. In order to provide the required quality of service (QoS), new mounting options must be developed. With individual solutions for each service and location, it will no longer be possible to meet the requirements.

Integration and parallel use required

In the future, it will be necessary to integrate several antennas more closely in one assembly location and simultaneously use several installation spaces distributed around the vehicle for one service. In order to pursue this approach, corresponding concepts must be developed and tested. This is where the joint research project comes in. The project with the project no. 2018 FE 9032 is funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (EFRE-OP 2014-2020) and by the state of Thuringia under the RTI guideline of the Free State of Thuringia.
