Weimar-based antenna manufacturer Desay SV Automotive Europe GmbH has acquired all shares in Antenna Technology Center GmbH (ATC). The company is a leading provider of antenna measurements and services in the automotive industry. This was announced by the Weimar-based company. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
The background for the company's recent expansion is the role of the antenna as a central component of the automotive future. "The megatrends are electrification, autonomous driving and connectivity," explains ATC chief engineer Christian Reymers. Vehicle networking requires a stable connection with high data transmission rates in real time with maximum accuracy, he adds.
ATC, based in Itzehoe near Hamburg, has only eight employees - all of them high-frequency experts. The Weimar-based company, which belongs to the Chinese Desay SV Group and has grown from 90 to 185 employees within five years, will remain as an independent company and brand. In the future, they will cover the entire process chain: from antenna research and development to high-precision far-field and near-field measurements to antenna production and delivery.
ATC will contribute testing and analysis of antenna systems as well as support in technical development. Customers are well-known automakers, automotive suppliers and antenna manufacturers around the world, he said.
ATC's technology partners include the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Ilmenau Technical University, RWTH Aachen, Keysight and Rohde & Schwarz. The company stands for cutting-edge know-how in the field of high-frequency technology and is an industry-recognized authority for reliable antenna measurements. It meets the highest standards for information and data security in the automotive industry.
With the acquisition of ATC, the Weimar-based company is expanding its "long-standing expertise in the field of antenna technology to include vehicle measurements," explains Michael Weber, the managing director of Desay SV Automotive Europe GmbH in Weimar. "Under the brand Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg, we have already been offering antenna solutions for original equipment and retrofitting of vehicles as well as networking of devices for decades."
Through the acquisition of ATC, Desay SV Europe will cover the entire process chain from a single source in the future, he added. It is expected to open a state-of-the-art shielded 3D antenna measurement chamber by the end of 2025, the company said.
