Automotive supplier Desay SV Europe invests 25 million euros in measuring chamber and new offices

Desay SV Automotive Europe GmbH broke ground on a multi-million euro project in the Legefeld industrial estate on Thursday. The automotive supplier with Chinese roots, which has its European headquarters in the Weimar district, plans to build a 3D antenna measurement chamber for prototype vehicles and a three-storey office building here by August 2025. The investment of over 25 million euros will create jobs for 110 employees.

New technology campus for up to 350 employees

The almost 10,000 square meter site in the immediate vicinity of the company headquarters also allows for further expansion. It offers space for two further office complexes. In future, the new technology campus, which represents Desay's largest investment in Germany to date, will employ around 350 people.

Desay SV Europe specializes in the original equipment of vehicles with electronics, antenna and software solutions.
software solutions. This ranges from in-car infotainment, such as cockpit displays and climate control, to driver assistance and sensor technology, through to the technology that enables the vehicle to communicate with the outside world. The latter is crucial for enabling autonomous driving in practice in the future.

In order to develop vehicles that guarantee stable data connections with high transmission rates, minimal response times and maximum positioning accuracy, complex measurement procedures are required in a shielded, reproducible and reflection-free environment, which will be created in the new antenna measurement chamber. The frequency of the electromagnetic waves used increases with every mobile communications standard that can transport more data faster. According to Managing Director Michael Weber, this also makes the measurement methods more complicated. This in turn is reflected in the dimensions of the new building, which is to rise 17 meters. In order to allow this height, the city had to change the B-plan for the industrial estate.

The effort was justified. For the parent company, Europe is the most important market outside China. The clocks are therefore set for growth in Legefeld. Last year, Desay SV Europe reported a record order intake, which promises sales of several hundred million euros for three to four years.
