The Chinese supplier Desay is investing in measurement technology at its site in Weimar. The aim is to meet the specifications and standards of European customers.

Desay SV Europe has opened a new test laboratory in Weimar. According to the company, it can optically measure displays and backlit display and control elements. The new capacities are required for product development. The supplier has received several orders in Europe. In the new laboratory, A, B and C samples are checked and compared with the specifications.

The laboratory in Weimar will ensure that the testing and inspection procedures of European customers are mapped. For projects of the parent company in China, the measurement processes and the equipment used are different. The laboratory is equipped with a high-resolution luminance and color measurement camera from the Thuringian company Techno Team. The robot-controlled camera positioning system comes from Denso and Labsoft serves as the image acquisition and evaluation program.

Further investments planned

Desay SV is also investing in a new building in Weimar. The ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for mid-January. The optical laboratory is to move in there in future. Until then, the measuring equipment will be located in a temporary facility on the company premises. The company is planning further investments, for example in the production infrastructure in Europe. The supplier did not provide further details when asked.

For Managing Director Michael Weber, there was no alternative to building up the company's own laboratory capacities: "As a partner to European automotive customers, building up our own testing and inspection capacities is also essential for reasons of trust and confidentiality." Desay SV Europe is part of a Chinese group of companies. Since the opening of a European branch in Weimar, the company has been continuously expanding its activities.
