The antenna in the switch cabinet

The LEG rental factory in Legefeld was the door opener. It enabled Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg to relocate in 2017. It only moved from its eponymous headquarters to Weimar almost two years ago. Today the company is facing completely new perspectives. Managing Director Michael Weber recalled this on Tuesday during a visit to the company by Thuringia's Economics Minister. Wolfgang Tiefensee had laid the foundation stone for the rental factory in 2016. Now he wanted to know where Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg was heading after it was taken over by a Chinese company.

Company visit by Thuringia's Minister of Economics

The LEG rental factory in Legefeld was the door opener. It enabled Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg to relocate in 2017. It only moved from its eponymous headquarters to Weimar almost two years ago. Strategic partnership with Desay

From the point of view of the managing director, Huizhou Desay SV Automotive is an ideal partner. The company can offer Desay and develop with it what the parent company does not have: antenna technology. Without it, networking would not be possible in many areas, not only in the automotive sector. On the other hand, the development of antenna technology requires electronics and software such as those developed at Desay. "It is no longer enough to build good antennas. Only with the intelligent antenna does added value return," says Weber . In this respect, the term "strategic partnership" is appropriate.

Using ATBB's potential for 5G

The company headquarters In der Buttergrube and the new partnership have long been reflected in the workforce. Yesterday, plant manager Robert Löchel explained the production areas to the minister. He has been with the company for almost a year. Michael Weber calls this the "Weimar effect". In the development department, Tiefensee welcomed Qiangbo Zhang, the first Chinese trainee at Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg. He is a student from the TU Dresden. The minister would now like to use the company's potencies for more. He sees great demand for the 5G radio standard in the industry. He would like to develop a model system together with the Jena public utility company. The products for networking in so-called smart metering (intelligent electronic measuring systems) could contribute to this. For example, the company is "the first antenna specialist to develop completely integrated and invisible switch cabinet antennas", in which the environment and installation situation are also transmitted and all data from the switch cabinet in the basement is securely transferred to the mobile phone network.
