Desay SV Automotive Europe acquires leading measurement service provider ATC

Desay SV Europe News

Desay SV Automotive Europe GmbH has acquired all shares in Antenna Technology Center Europe ATC GmbH (ATC), a leading provider of antenna measurements and services in the automotive industry, effective September 29, 2022. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. ATC was founded in 2008 and is based in Itzehoe, around 60 km northwest of Hamburg. The company will remain as an independent firm and brand.

Industry recognized authority for antenna measurements

ATC's range of services includes testing and analysis of antenna systems as well as support in technical development. Customers are well-known automotive manufacturers, automotive suppliers and antenna manufacturers around the world. ATC's strategic technology partners include the Technical University of Munich (TUM), the Technical University of Ilmenau, RWTH Aachen, Keysight and Rohde & Schwarz. The company stands for cutting-edge expertise in the field of high-frequency technology and is an industry-recognized authority for reliable antenna measurements. ATC has been TISAX-certified since 2019 and thus meets the most stringent standards for information and data security in the automotive industry.

Entire process chain from a single source

"With the acquisition of ATC, we are expanding our long-standing expertise in the field of antenna technology to include vehicle measurements," explains Dr. Michael Weber, Managing Director of Desay SV Automotive Europe GmbH. "Under the brand Antennentechnik Bad Blankenburg, we have already been offering antenna solutions for original equipment and retrofitting of vehicles as well as networking of devices for decades. Through the development partnership with ATC, we will in future cover the entire process chain from a single source: from antenna research and development to high-precision, reliable far-field and near-field measurements to antenna production and delivery." Desay SV Europe thus strengthens its market position as a highly competent provider of sophisticated connectivity solutions and expands its portfolio for the mobility of tomorrow.

Strong partner for upcoming transformations and investments

"We are pleased to start a new chapter in our company's development with a strong partner," said Jan-Peter Busch, Managing Director and CEO of ATC. "The profound transformations in the automotive industry require extensive investments in order to be able to offer first-class measurements and services in the future. With Desay SV Europe, we are securing the continued existence and future of our company."

Complex, interdependent networking scenarios

"The megatrends of the automotive industry are electrification, autonomous driving and connectivity," adds Christian Reymers, Senior Engineer & COO at ATC. "Especially in vehicle connectivity, the challenges and complexity are increasing. The vehicle of the future needs a secure, stable connection with high data transmission rates and low latency combined with highest position accuracy. Measuring individual sub-functions is no longer sufficient in such complex, interdependent scenarios. The performance of the overall system is crucial."

State-of-the-art shielded 3D antenna measurement chamber planned

"Our activities go one step further," explains Marcus Och, Head of Development at Desay SV Europe. "We expect to open a state-of-the-art shielded 3D antenna measurement chamber in 2025. With this investment, we will offer measurement expertise that is unique in the industry by covering the entire spectrum of automotive antenna measurement technology." ATC's expertise in far-field and near-field measurements will be expanded to include shielded, active measurements. "This enables us to develop new test concepts and implement them at the overall system and vehicle level." Passive and active antenna solutions such as smart antennas can thus be verified and optimized.
